The basic parameters determining the recreational value of the landscape are:

  • diverse, predominantly hilly-ridge topography, often with large elevations and isolated rock outcrops;

  • regionally average density of the stream, river;

  • wetland coverage typical of taiga areas;

  • clear dominance of recreationally attractive pine forests, often interspersed with spruce stands;

  • prevalence of forests with feather-mosses dominating in the ground cover: often pinewoods on dry sandy hills and ridges, which are the most convenient sites for recreation.

All the characteristics listed above determine the relatively good recreational quality of the district landscapes. The landscapes are as a rule quite easily accessible and suitable for any kind of recreational activities.
